At Age 72
Owen V. Mendenhall, 72, Bonnie, died 12:52 a.m. April 29, 1990,
at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center.
Mr. Mendenhall was employed at Vernois Stove Foundry until retirement.
He was born Nov 15, 1917, in Jefferson County, a son of Emote and
Dora (Johnston) Mendenhall. April 16, 1949, in Mt. Vernon, he married
Allene Cagle, who survives.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Johnston Funeral Home in Ina with
the Rev. William R. Southerd officiating. Burial will follow in South
Hickory Hill Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by
Waltonville VFW Post 9153.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Mendenhall is survived by one son,
David Mendenhall and wife, Darlene, of Texico; one daughter, Mrs.
Leroy (Linda) Hayes of Bonnie; two brothers, Art Mendenhall of Nason and
Roy Mendenhall of Granite City; two sisters, Mrs. Wanda Gregory of Walnut Hill
and Mrs. Evelyn Williams of Bonnie; and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Mendenhall was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Elk Prairie
Christian Church and Waltonville VFW Post 9153.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two sisters, three brothers
and two grandchildren.
