Herbert (Bert) Mendenhall Dies; Funeral Sunday

Herbert "Bert" Mendenhall of 1705 Main Street died at 8:15 p.m. 
Thursday in Jefferson Memorial Hospital at the age of 84 years 
and 26 days.  

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Myers Chapel 
with the Rev. Kenneth Holland officiating.  Burial will be in 
Pleasant Hill cemetery.  The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel 
where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Saturday.  

Mr. Mendenhall was born Dec. 16, 1883, in Jefferson county, the son 
of Isaac and Mary (Boswell) Mendenhall.  On April 21, 1904, at Bonnie, 
he was married to Mary Dare, who survives.  He is also survived by 
three sons, Wayne and Ike Mendenhall of Belle Rive; a sister, Mrs. 
Alice Scott of Henryetta, Okla.; ten grandchildren; and 18 great-
grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby Williams, a grandson, 
and two great-grandsons.  

Mr. Mendenhall was a retired railroad brakeman, and was also a former 
employee of the Mt. Vernon car shops.
