Imogene I. Melton
Imogene I. Melton, 97, of Mt. Vernon died 4:20 a.m. Oct. 22, 2004, at
Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon. She was a retired sales
clerk from J.C. Penny in St. Louis. Mrs. Melton was born March 20, 1907,
in Mt. Vernon to Rufus and Essie (Hutchison) Harmon. She married Reginald
Melton; he died March 11, 1984.
Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Oakwood Cemetery.
The Rev. Julie Allison will officiate. Those attending the services are
asked to go directly to the cemetery on Sunday afternoon. Friends may call
from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
Mrs. Melton is survived by a sister-in-law, Pauline B. Peacock of Mt. Vernon;
two nephews, Jack Harmon and wife Sidney of Kingsport, Tenn., and Jerry Harmon
and wife Faith of California; and two nieces, Lilia Hulbert and husband Jerry
of Mt. Vernon and Jane Lynn and husband Richard of Mt. Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, James Richard Melton;
a brother, Glenn Harmon; and a sister, Alma H. Melton.

and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral
Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864. Arrangements have been entrusted
