Benjamin F. Melton
Benjamin F. MELTON, a well known farmer of Dodds Twp., died this
morning at 12:25 o'clock after a period of serveral months ill health.
Mr. MELTON was born February 12, 1862, in Dodds Twp., and was a son
of the late Nathan MELTON and wife, and he spent his entire life in
Jefferson County.
His health failed last November and since that time he had been practically
an invalid, and confined to his home most of the time. Mr. MELTON always
engaged in general farming, in which he was a very successful, and was
an industrious progressive farmer, an excellent citizen, and held in the
highest respect by all who knew him. A member of an old family, carefully
rared for good citizenship and a useful life, he observed the teachings of
excellent parents and lived an exemplary life reflecting credit alike on
his parents and himself. His influence was ever on the side of right.
He was affiliated with the M. E. Church, and lived the religion he professed.
Mr. MELTON is survived by his widow and the following named children:
Arthur and Ralph MELTON, Mt. Vernon; Mrs. Lee WHISENHUNT, Mt. Vernon, and
Mrs. Lorene RANDOLPH, Spring Valley, IL. The following brothers and sisters
survive: HEnry and Dan G. MELTON, Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Maude REINIGNER, Mt. Vernon,
Mrs.. Nettie NORVELL, Hope, Ark. Funeral services will be held at Hams Grove
Church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
