August Medders

August "Gus" MEDDERS, of RFD 4, Mt. Vernon, died at 12:10 a.m. 
Sunday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.  He was 82 years and 26 days of age. 
Mr. Medders, a retired farmer, had been in failing health for two years and had 
been in critical condition for the past two months. 
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Pulley Funeral Home, 
with the Rev. Bird GREEN and the Rev. Ray WILKEY officiating.  Burial will 
be in Medders cemetery. 

Mr. MEDDERS was born March 11, 1870 in Jefferson county, the son of 
Samuel and Sarah (YEARWOOD) Medders.  He was married in Dahlgren to 
Maggie Arlena PASLEY, who preceded him in death.  Mr. Medders was a 
member of the Baptist church.  He is survived by three sons, Mellville A. of 
Chester, Ill., and William B. and George K. of Mt. Vernon; one daughter, Mrs 
Mabel HIGGINSON of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Norrill of Mt. Vernon; 11 
grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his 
parents, his wife, a daughter, three brothers and three sisters.
