John Henry Meadows
John Henry Meadows, 62, of Mt. Vernon died 11.52 p.m. Feb. 10,
2005, at Mt. Vernon Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
He first worked for Inland Steel/Consolidated Coal Co. and then the
maintenance department of Mt. Vernon School District 80 until his
retirement due to failing health.
Mr. Meadows was born April 15, 1942, im Jefferson County to John
William and Ethel M. (Carpenter) Meadows. He married Sheridan "Sherry" A.
(Wilfong)Meadows Dec. 15, 1951, in Jefferson County, she survives.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Central Christian
Church in Mt. Vernon, Mr. Randy Sells, the Rev. Dan Lovin and Mr. Mike
Sheets will officiate. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Mt.
Vernon.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Central Christian Church in
Mt. Vernon.
Mr. Meadows is survived by his wife Sheridan "Sherry" A. Meadows of Mt.
Vernon; a daughter, Angie Morgan and husband Kelly of Mt. Vernon; two
grandchildren, Jacob Morgan of Carbondale and Nathan Morgan of Angola,
Ind.; sisters Shirley "Mick" Anderson and husband Mike of Memphis Tenn.;
Ida Reeves of Mt. Vernon, Vera Hayes and husband Rick of Mt. Vernon,
and Sharon Johnson and husband Jerry of Woodlawn. He is also survived by
his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carolyn and Jim McKee of
Jeffersonville Ind. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother.
Mr. Meadows was a member of Central Christian Church, Mt. Vernon
Masonic Lodge 31 AF &AM and Mt. Vernon Elks Lodge 819. He served on the
Jefferson County Board for several years.

Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey
Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721. Mt. Vernon, Illinois 62864.
