Clara B. McNew

Mrs. Clara B. McNEW died at 8:00 o'clock last night at her home, 816 South 12th Street, 
at the age of 83 years, 4 months and 15 days.  Funeral services will be held Thursday 
at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel.  The Rev. Bird GREEN will officiate and burial will be 
in Oakwood Cemetery.  The body will remain at Myers Chapel where friends may call 
after 11 a.m. Wednesday.  Mrs. McNEW was born September 1, 1872 in Jefferson County, 
the daughter of James S. and Melinda (LOVIN) FARLOW.
 
Mrs. McNEW was married to Otto H. McNEW, who preceded her in death on June 2, 1955.  
Mrs. McNEW was a member of the Hams Grove Baptist Church.  She is survived by one son, 
Cecil H. McNEW of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel HERTENSTEIN of Oak Lawn, Ill., 
and Mrs. Lela GILLEY of Mt. Carmel; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and 
a niece, Mrs. Vivis FICKLE, who was reared in her home as a daughter.
