Oscar McKowen
Oscar McKowen of 2206 Perkins Avenue, a well known machinist, died at 9:05 a.m.
today at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past 14 days.
His age was 69 years, six months, and 11 days.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m., at Myers Chapel and burial will be in
Hopewell Cemetery.
The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where friends may call at ay time after 10 a.m., Wednesday.
Mr. McKowen was born January 29, 1879 in Richland county, Ill., the son of Sam and
Artimesa (Cargil) McKowen.
In 1921 he was married to Lela Smith, who survives.
Surviving, besides his wife, are two daughters, Mrs. Lela Mae Johnson and Mrs. Edna Faulkner
of Mt. Vernon; and son, Nolan McKowen of Mt. Vernon and one grandchild.
