Eliza McCreery
Mrs. Eliza McCreery, died at her home in Thompsonville last night
of pneumonia after an illness of only two days duration.
She was a native of this place being born here in 1823. She was the oldest
child of Joel Pace, who was made clerk of the county upon its organization in 1819.
She was married to Warren McCreery in 1845 or 1846 and settled upon a farm
near where she died and where for nearly all her life she has since resided.
She was related to many of the pioneer families in this and Franklin counties.
Two sons survive her. She has also three brothers living, Dr. W. C. and E. C. Pace,
of Ashley and Addison Pace of Longton, Kas.; Mrs. C. W. Pavey of this city is her
only surviving sister.
The funeral will occur at Thompsonville tomorrow afternoon and Mrs. Pavey
and her daughter, Miss Alice, will leave for that place on the C & E train tonight
to be in attendance.
