John B. McCormack

Funeral services were held Sunday morning at Myers Chapel for John B. McCORMACK, 86, 
of Cravat, who was instantly killed Saturday morning when he was struck by a C. & E. I. 
motor-powered passenger coach on a trestle north of Bakerville. The body was taken late 
Sunday to Glasco, KY. Funeral and burial arrangements were not known here. A verdict of 
accidental death was returned by a coroner's jury at an inquest conducted by Corner Ben ROEDER.

Scott WILLIAMS of West Frankfort, engineer of the passenger coach which struck McCORMACK, 
testified at the inquest that the man was lying between the rail at the end of the trestle 
when he first say him.  

Mr. McCORMACK, a retired farmer, resided at the home of a son in Cravat. He had been a 
resident of Jefferson County for the past 20 years.

He was born in Tennessee, the son of Mack McCORMACK and Mary (MYERS) McCORMACK. He was 
united in marriage with Nancy L. DOTSON, who survives him. Besides his widow, he is 
survived by three sons.  George, R. P. and Ira of Tennessee; six daughters, Mrs. Stella BRADY 
of Moss, Tenn.; Annie TROBAUGH of Tennessee; Mrs. Amanda CROSS of Indianapolis, Ind.; 
Mrs. Effie SWEZA of Watson, Ark.; Mrs. Etta WHITZEL of Centralia; and Mrs. Alice ANDERSON of 
Tennessee; and one sister, Mrs. Julia BAILEY of Russelville, KY.
