Irene McClinton
Irene McClinton, 101, of Mt. Vernon died 8:55 a.m. Sept. 19, 2004, at
Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor. She worked at Jackson Jewelers. Mrs.
McClinton was born Jan. 17, 1903, in East St. Louis to Herman and Louise
Schneider. She married Robert McClinton Jr. May 10, 1921 in Carlinville;
he died June 21, 1987.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery.
Bill Howard will officiate. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday at Johnston Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
Mrs. McClinton is survived by a daughter-in-law, Maxine McClinton of Mt.
Vernon; a granddaughter, Jane Wood and husband Morris of Suwanee, Ga.;
a great-granddaughter, Pam Crawford and husband John of Alpharetta,
Ga.; a great-grandson, R.J. Wood and wife Patience of Tampa, Fla.; two
great-great-grandsons, Cole and Breck Crawford; a sister-in-law, Margaret
McClinton of Averill Park, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Robert
McClinton III; four brothers; and four sisters.
Mrs. McClinton was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon.
She was an avid bridge player.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church
and will be accepted at Johnston Funeral Home. For more information you
