Thomas W. McLanahan
Thomas W. McLanahan,81, formerly of Elberton, died Friday, May 28, 1999.
A native of Elberton, Mr. McLanahan was a son of the late Asbury Long and
Annie Lou Nash McLanahan, and was the widower of his first wife, Amy Rose
Bassimer McLanahan. He was a granite engraver for Phillips Monument Company
in Sesser, Ill., was a veteran of World War II, and was of the Protestant faith.
He was a member of Mount Vernon Moose Lodge 755, Mount Vernon Elks Lodge, Mount
Vernon American Legion Post 141, and Mount Vernon VFW Post 1376.
Services were held Sunday, May 30, 1999, at the Johnston Funeral Home, Mount Vernon,
Ill., with the Revs. Everett Lemay and J.R. Janese officiating. Burial, with Military
Rites, was in Kirk Cemetery, Ina, Ill., conducted by Mount Vernon American Legion Post
141.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Fitzgerrell Witter McLanahan; a son, Thomas W. McLanahan Jr.,
Mount Vernon, Ill.; two stepdaughters, Judy Parr, Mount Vernon, Ill., and Nancy Miles,
Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Ralph McLanahan, Elberton; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
