Alice Mae McClain

Alice Mae McClain, 72, of Mt. Vernon died 9:55 a.m. Aug. 31, 2004, 
at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was first 
employed with the housekeeping department at Jefferson Memorial Hospital 
in Mt. Vernon and then was the superintendent of housekeeping at Mt. Vernon 
Casey Care Center. 

Mrs. McClain was born May 1, 1932, in Bluford to Elton M. and Eva (Clemens) 
Cornwell. She married William "Bill" McClain March 25, 1954, in Benton; he 
survives. 

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. 
Vernon. D. Wayne Heil will officiate. Burial will follow at East Hickory Hill 
Cemetery in rural Jefferson County. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday 
at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. 

Mrs. McClain is survived by her husband, William "Bill" McClain of Mt. Vernon; 
a son, Tony McClain and companion Tammy Pate of Mt. Vernon; daughters Lisa Hoelscher 
and husband Curtis of Centralia, Sherri Pierce and husband Tracy of Wayne City and 
Carla Lafoon and husband Lawrence of Madisonville, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; eight 
great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Nadine Neideffer of Mt. Vernon and Audrey 
Fae Highsmith of Lakeland, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Randy McClain; and a granddaughter, 
GayLynn McClain. 

Mrs. McClain was a member of New Life Harvest Church in Mt. Vernon.

accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, 
Mt. Vernon, IL 62864. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Hughey Funeral
