Russell L. McBride

Russell L. McBride, 88, of Dix died 10:50 a.m. Dec. 21, 1999, at 
Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Mr. McBride once worked for Hudson 
Motor Car Co. He was later owner and operator of McBride Tank Truck Service, and 
was retired from Mt. Vernon Realty. He was born Feb. 10, 1911, in Raccoon 
Township, Marion County, to Stella (Jones) and Frank McBride. He married Juanita 
Bundy on Sept. 26, 1933, in Maplewood, Mo.; she survives. 

Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with 
Bruce Hough officiating. Burial will be in Zion Grove (County Line) Cemetery. 
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. 

In addition to his wife, Mr. McBride is survived by three sons, Allen McBride 
and wife Sandra and Loren McBride and wife Vicki, all of Mt. Vernon, and Oren 
McBride and wife Bobbie Sue of Evansville, Ind.; two daughters, Carolyn Ottum 
and husband Bob of Sugar Grove and Marilyn Smithpeters and husband Tommy of 
Mt. Vernon; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leon McBride 
and wife Carrie of Johnston City. Mr. McBride was a member of Dix Christian Church. 
He was a life member and a past master of Rome Lodge 721 A.F. & A.M. of Dix. 
He attended Pleasant View Grade School and Dix High School. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Jim, Buell, Jesse, Dick and 
Francis; and three sisters, May Bundy, Ellen Boles and Joy Birge. 

Memorials may be made to the Illini Children’s Christian Home and will be received 
at the funeral home at any time.
