Fatally Burned At 10:55 A.M.
Yesterday While Cooking
At Home, 908 Taylor.
						
 				
Miss Nellie McAtee, 73, died at five o'clock yesterday afternoon at
Mt. Vernon hospital of burns, received six hours earlier at her
home, 908 Taylor avenue. Had she lived until February 5th, she would
have been 74 years of age.	

She was fatally burned at 10:55 a.m. yesterday in a tragic mishap
at her home while she was cooking. Her clothing was burned from her body.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at
the home on Taylor avenue, conducted by Rev. M.A. Souers, pastor of the 
First Methodist church and burial will follow in Old Union cemetery.

The body will be removed from the O.B. Fly Funeral home to the home Sunday 
morning and friends may call there at any convenient time up to the funeral
hour.

Miss McAtee, a member of a prominent Jefferson county family, was born 
February 5, 1866 in Blissville township, the daughter, of Dr. Edward A. McAtee 
and Susan E. Thorn McAtee. She spent her lifetime as a respected resident of 
this city and county. Her father was a veteran of the Civil and Mexican wars. 

She was a granddaughter of Capt. W. B. Thorn, an early settler here.

She was a member of the First Methodist church and had been for
years.  When able, she attended church services regularly.

She is survived by a brother, Charles E. McAtee, president of the 
Mt. Vernon Loan and Building Association, and a sister, Mrs. Bernice
Lee, also of Mt. Vernon. 

A brother, Theodore, and a sister Lida, preceded her in death.
