The following is her obituary in the Mt. Vernon Register News -

Sarah C. Maxey Dies Last Night; Funeral Thursday
Mrs. Sarah C. Maxey, widow of Samuel T. Maxey, died at 11:45 last
night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edna Upcraft, 911 Taylor
avenue. Her age was 77 years, eight months and 22 days.
Mrs. Maxey, who was respected and liked by all who knew her, was
an active member of the Pleasant Grove church. She was a member
of the Varnell Rebeccah lodge.
She was born April 25th, 1860 in Shiloh township. She had been a
resident of this county her entire life. She had lived with her
daughter in Mt. Vernon for the past 10 years.
She was united in marriage with Samuel T. Maxey, he preceding her
in death December 18, 1916.
Mrs. Maxey was the daughter of John R. and Amanda Moss of Shiloh
township.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Thursday afternoon at
Myers Chapel, conducted by Harry C. Brown and Rev. J. L. Miller.
Interment will be made in Oakwood cemetery.
The body will lie in state at Myers Funeral Chapel until the
funeral hour.
Mrs. Maxey is survived by one son, Olin of Mt. Vernon; two
daughters, Mrs. F. J. Upcraft and Mrs. A. R. Swift of Mt. Vernon;
two brothers, Norman A. Piercy and Will Piercy of Mt. Vernon; one
sister, Mrs. Vinnie Bates; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
