Gladys V. Mattix
            
Gladys V. Mattix, 71, of Sarasota, Fla. died at her home at 7:35 am Thursday.  She was 
a former resident of the Mt. Vernon area.
            
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.  Burial 
will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
Visitation at the funeral home will be after 6 pm Saturday.
            
Mrs. Mattix was born Nov, 7, 1902 in Jefferson county, the daughter of Tom and Cora (McFarland) Mann.  
She was married Jan 19, 1922 in Jefferson county to Dale R. Mattix, who survives.
            
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Tharp of Avon Park, Fla.; one grandson, William Dale Tharp 
of Avon Park, Fla., and two sisters, Mrs. Lela Brown of Alton and Mrs. Jessie Moos of Peoria.
            
Mrs. Mattix was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one son, who was killed in service 
during W.W. II.
