JOEL MARTIN, 70,  CHRISTOPHER, DIES 

Joel Martin, 70, of 209 Ernestine St., Christopher, died  at 12:10 a.m. today 
in Franklin Hospital, Benton. Mr. Marton was a retired  employee of the 
Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad. 

He was born in Jefferson  County Nov. 8, 1898, the son of Lee and Navada 
Beckham Martin. Mr. Martin leaves his wife, Mrs. Jewel Lewis Martin; a son, 
Charles L. of Christopher; two grandchildren and one great grandchild. 
Funeral services will be a 2 p.m. Thursday at the Gilbert Funeral Home in 
Christopher, with the Rev. Tracy Lee officiating. Burial will be in Knob Prairie 
Cemetery, Waltonville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Wednesday.
