Alberta Hirons Martin

Alberta Hirons Martin, 83, of Mt. Vernon and formerly of Washington, IL. died 4:43 A.M. 
Thursday, February 2, 2006, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

She was a home maker and a Volunteer for St. Mary's Good Samaritan Auxiliary for 16 years 
and a member of Central Christian Church. 

Mrs. Martin was born October 11, 1922 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Aud and Meda (Norris) Hirons Sr. 
She married Coy Martin on December 6, 1942; he preceded her in death February 16, 1989.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Central Christian Church in Mt. Vernon, 
with the Randy Sells and Howard Kraps officiating. Burial will be in Knob Prairie Cemetery 
in Waltonville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. 

Mrs. Martin is survived by three sons, Michael Martin and wife Marty of Lexington, KY.; 
Samuel Martin and wife Sally (Hess) of Dunedin, FL.; Jeffry Martin and wife Linda of Seminole, FL.; 
two brothers, Malcolm Hirons and wife Rose of Mt. Vernon, IL, and O. P. Hirons of Mt. Vernon, IL; 
one twin sister, Roberta Frick and husband Harold of  Waltonville, IL; one sister-in-law 
Carlyn Hirons of Mt. Vernon, IL; one granddaughter, Elizabeth and husband Kevin Jarvis of 
Franklin, TN.; three grandsons, Brett Martin and wife Heather of Arlington, VA.; Eric and 
Neil Martin both of Seminole, FL.; Great Grandson, Bryce Jarvis and Great Granddaughter, 
Kennedy Jarvis. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant brother Joe Ben, and one brother 
Aud "Jiggs" Hirons Jr.

For those who wish, memorials may be given to Good Samaritan Auxiliary, Hospice of Good Samaritan, 
Central Christian Church, or Knob Prairie Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home or 
may be mailed to Newell Funeral Home, 2707 North Street, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.
