Thelma Carlton Marlow
Thelma Carlton Marlow, 88, of Mt. Vernon died 6:15 a.m. Dec. 30, 2004,
at Nature Trail Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon. She was employed by the
Mammoth Department Store as a seamstress until retirement. Mrs. Marlow
was born Nov. 14, 1916, in St. Louis to Dr. R. Everett and Josie (Lovin) Carlton.
She married H. Allen Marlow Dec. 25, 1937; he died Nov. 1, 2002.
Funeral services were to be held 10 a.m. today at Newell Funeral Home in
Mt. Vernon. The Revs. David Eadie and Bill Causer were to officiate. Burial
was to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.
Mrs. Marlow is survived by sons Richard Marlow of Waco, Texas, and William Marlow
and wife Linda of Jacksonville, Ark.; daughters Jane Marlow of Mt. Vernon,
Julia Marlowe Kilduff of Easton, Md., and Jeanie Bolerjack and husband Terry of
Leawood, Kan.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister,
Jo Ann Zinkgraf of O’Fallon.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. R. Everett Carlton; her mother,
Josie (Lovin) Carlton; her husband, H. Allen Marlow; a sister, Mary Louise Gibbs;
and a brother, Everett Lee Carlton.
Mrs. Marlow was a past member of the ladies auxiliary of Good Samaritan Hospital.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to Angels on Assignment or Hospice of Good Samaritan and
will be accepted at the funeral home.
