Harry "Jack" Mandrell
Harry "Jack" Mandrell, 77, of Woodlawn died 8:30 p.m. Nov. 25, 2004,
at his home. He was a retired maintenance foreman for Consolidated Coal
Nov. 4 in Cutler.
Mr. Mandrell was born Jan. 26, 1927, in Chester to Harry Douglas Mandrell
and Ilda (Tannehill) Mandrell. He married Joan (Keen) Mandrell June 21, 1952,
in Ashley; she survives.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt.
Vernon. James McKenzie and Jim Piercy will officiate. Burial will follow at
Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Military flag presentation will be conducted by
the chaplain of American Legion Post 141 in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call
from 10 a.m. Saturday until the funeral hour at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt.
Vernon.
Mr. Mandrell is survived by his wife, Joan Mandrell of Woodlawn; sons Steve
Mandrell and wife Pam of Waltonville, Scott Mandrell and wife Gloria of Woodlawn
and Stan Mandrell and wife Brigitte of St. Peters, Mo.; daughters Sherry Willis
and husband Bill of Mt. Vernon and Sue Close and husband Jim of Montpelier, Vt.;
grandchildren Brandon of Ambridge, Pa., Travis of Flagstaff, Ariz., Jeffrey of
Waltonville, Katie of Mt. Vernon, Julianne of Mt. Vernon, Alison of Waltonville,
Alexandra of Woodlawn, Adam of Woodlawn, Rachael of St. Peters, Mo., Brett of St.
Peters, Mo., and Ashton of St. Peters, Mo.; and a sister, Ola Sodders of
Sun City, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roy Mandrell.
Mr. Mandrell was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of West Long Prairie Christian
Church; Jefferson Lodge 368 of Opdyke; Illinois, Jefferson County Shrine Club of Mt.
Vernon; Ainad Temple of East St. Louis; and Veterans of Foreign Wars of Waltonville.
