Joseph Andy Kinman
 

Joseph Andy KINMAN, 77, was fatally injured at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, when he was 
struck by a car while walking across State Highway 37, in front of his home about 
one mile south of Mt. Vernon. Driver of the car in the fatal accident was Bee M. HALE, 28, 
of Bonnie. State Patrolman Lee R. LYONS, who investigated the accident, said that 
Mr. KINMAN walked in front of the car. He was apparently going to a mail box on the 
other side of the highway. Coroner Ben ROEDER was conducting an inquest in the case 
at the court house at 2:00 p.m. this afternoon.

Funeral services for Mr. KINMAN will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel and 
burial will be in Bethel Memorial Cemetery. The body will remain at Myers Chapel, where 
friends may call at any time until the funeral hour.  

Mr. KINMAN was a farmer. He was born October 23, 1876 in Missouri but spent most of his 
lifetime as a resident of Jefferson County. He was married to Charlottie PIERCE, who survives.  
Mr. KINMAN was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. Besides his wife, he is survivied 
by two sons, Nelson of Mt. Vernon and Oren of St. Louis, Mo.; four brothers, John of Bonnie, 
Lee of Sioux City, Iowa, Charley of South Dakota and Will of Bloomington; a half-brother Merle 
RYAN of Atlanta, Ill.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
