Irene Jones


Irene Jones, 88, of Ina, passed away at 2:12 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, 
at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born June 2, 1920, 
in Bonnie, a daughter of Clyde and Florence (Knowles) Adams. She married Byford Jones 
in the summer of 1940, and he preceded her in death on July 15, 1968. 

Private services will be held at the Johnston Funeral Home in Ina with the Brother 
David Shores officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones is survived by daughter, Dorothy Boles and husband Gary of Ina and their 
sons Terry Boles of Mt. Vernon and Steve Boles of Carbondale; daughter, Carolyn Jones 
and hers sons, Jeffrey Corners and Rodney Corners of North Carolina; daughter, Linda Jones 
of Ina and her children, Ramon Jones of Ina and Kalen Dycus of North Carolina; a 
granddaughter, Jill Martin of Carbondale; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Evelyn 
Droll of Ina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Byford; son, Larry Jones; and brother, 
Albert Adams.

Mrs. Jones was a member of the Ina Free Will Baptist Church.
