Dorothy B. Jones

Dorothy B. Jones, 86, of Mt. Vernon died 2:34 p.m. Feb. 28, 2005. 
Prior to her retirement, she worked as an abstractor for Webb & Harris 
Abstractors. 

Mrs. Jones was born May 20, 1918, in Jefferson County to Fred and Nancy 
(Davis) Brown. She married Wilbur D. Jones Aug. 18, 1940, in Cape Girardeau, 
Mo.; he preceded her in death. 

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Hughey Funeral Home in 
Mt. Vernon. Gene Fox will officiate. Burial will follow at West Salem Cemetery. 
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. 

Mrs. Jones is survived by a son, Clinton D. Jones of Denver, Colo.; daughters 
Diane Schwitz and husband Terry of Mt. Vernon and Delores Nichelson and husband 
Rex of Palm Harbor, Fla.; grandchildren Barton Nichelson of Penacook, N.H., Greg 
Nichelson and wife Jennie of Springfield, Robert Schwitz of St. Louis, Mo., and 
Megan Schwitz of Mt. Vernon; and six great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Charles Brown. 

Mrs. Jones was a member of West Salem Trinity United Methodist Church. She was also 
a member of United Methodist Women and served as their treasurer for 19 years and 
was a past member of the Business and Professional Women of Mt. Vernon and the NITWITS 
Club. 

For those who wish, memorials may be made to West Salem Trinity United Methodist Women 
or the West Salem Cemetery Association and will be accepted at the funeral home or may 
be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864. Arrangements have
