Former Resident to Be Buried Here Tomorrow....
Mrs. W. H. Johnson, formerly a well known resident of Jefferson
County, died at the family residence near Equality, Ill., last
night at 11 0'clock.
Mrs. Johnson, before her marriage was Nancy Alice Ford, daughter
of the late Wm. and Eliza Ford. She was born in Crawford County,
Illinois, September 3, 1858. She was united in marriage with
Wm. H. Johnson of Mt. Vernon on July 3, 1877. To this union seven
children were born, two of whom, Daisy and Eddie, preceded their
mother in death. The living children are A. C. Johnson, Ridgeway;
Mrs. Louie Tate, Paragould, Ark.; Nell, Martha and Edith Johnson
of Los Angeles, Calif.
Mrs. Johnson resided in the Pleasant Grove neighborhood for years.
She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and was faithful
in attendance at church services until her health failed. She
always took a great interest in her home and the welfare of the
neighborhood and was highly respected by all who knew her.
She had been confined to her bed by illness the past four months
but always bore her suffering patiently. She leaves to mourn her
loss, her aged husband, Wm. H. Johnson, five children, one
brother, one sister and a host of other relatives and friends.
The body will be brought here tomorrow morning for burial. Funeral
services will be held at the Hopewell Church by Rev. Mr. Leslie,
Monday morning at 11 o'clock.
