James A. JOHNSON Dies at Age 90
Funeral Monday
James Andrew JOHNSON died at 11:55 last night at his home, 230 Casey Avenue,
at the age of 90 years and 9 months. He was a retired farmer. Mr. JOHNSON had
been in failing health for the past 3 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s
Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:00am at St. Mary’s Church, with Father
James P. Burke officiating and burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary will
be said at 7:30 pm Sunday at the Pulley Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral
home after 10am on Sunday.
He was born January 14, 1863 in Jefferson County, the son of Alexander and Mary
(HUNTER) JOHNSON. Surviving are his wife Cecile; two sons, Raymond JOHNSON of
Ashley and Melvin JOHNSON of St. Elmo; a daughter, Carolyn FURGUSON of Mt. Vernon;
and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and
three sisters.
