William H. Johnson

William Henry JOHNSON, familiarly known as Uncle Buck Johnson,
was born March 24, 1850 in Jefferson Co. ILL, and departed this life
March 20, 1942 at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 26 days.
He was the son of William Fletcher and Lucretia Hobbs Johnson.
He was married to Nancy Alice Ford on July 8, 1877 and to this union
seven children were born.
Daisy B. and Eddie E departed this life many years ago. Surviving are
Alva Curtis, Ridgway, ILL, Nell Caroline and Edyth L., of Montebello ,
Ca., Mrs Martha Smith, Los Angeles, Ca. and Mrs Jennie Tate, of Paragould,
Ark. He had ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, all of
whom are left to mourn their loss. He spent all of his life in Jefferson
and Gallatin Counties with the exception of a few years in Hamilton and
Pope counties. He came to Gallatin Co. in Feb 1904 and was engaged in
farming and saw milling. His wife passed away August 23, 1928 and the
remainder of his life was spent with his son, Alva Curtis Johnson.
He was a man of sterling qualities, lived and respected by all who
knew him.
