Alva C. Johnson
Alva C. JOHNSON, 80 died at his home on Lower Mt. Vernon Rd. yesterday at
noon. He had been ill a year. He was a native of Mt. Vernon, Ill born
12-16-1881. He farmed land in Illinois before moving to Evansville in 1946.
He was a member of Forest Hills Pilgrim Holiness Church, and a custodian
there for eight years before retiring three years ago.
He and his wife, Ethel, observed their 58th wedding anniversary last March.
Surviving besides his wife are daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Cox, Indianapolis,
and Mrs. Luther Kent, Evansville; sons, W. Merlin, Neil and Carroll, all of
Clearwater, Fla; sisters , Mrs. L. E. Tate, Paragould, Ark, and Miss Nelle
Johnson, Montebello, Calif; and 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be a Forest Hills Church, Monday, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Alfred
Case will officiate. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery., Evansville.
