MARION JACKSON
RETIRED METHODIST MINISTER WAS ORGANIZER 
OF EPWORTH CHURCH HERE
            
The Rev. Marion Jackson, retired Methodist minister who organized 
the Epworth Methodist Church here, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday at his 
home on Lambert Avenue.  His age was 71 years, 11 months, and 20 days.
            
The Rev. Jackson served as a minister for 44 years.  He began 
his service in the ministry in 1897 and retired a year ago.
            
Funeral services will be held at the Wesley Methodist Church at 
2 p.m. Tuesday.  The rites will be conducted by the Rev. T. B. 
Sowers, the Rev. C. C. Hall and the Rev. J. T. Smith and burial 
will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. The body will lie in state at 
Myers Chapel until 1 p. m. Tuesday, then will be taken to the church 
where it will remain until the funeral hour.
            
The Rev. Jackson was born August 6. 1870 in Hardin county, Illinois, 
the son of John and Georgeann (Gaskill) Jackson.
            
On May 1, 1901 he was united in marriage with Viva E Stephenson, 
who survives.
            
Besides his widow, he is survived by four sons, William Lee Jackson 
of Camp Grant, Ill., David Ernest Jackson of Chicago, Marion Bond 
Jackson of the Hawaiian Islands and Robert Gaskill Jackson of Chicago; 
three daughters, Mrs. Mary Esther Andrews of Chanute, Kansas, Miss 
Martha Elizabeth Jackson and Miss Dortha Alice Jackson of New York 
City; one brother, William Lee Jackson of Neosha, Mo.; two sisters, 
Mrs. Eulalia Marglin of Rosiclare, Ill., and Mrs. Aimee Allen of 
San Diego, Calif.; and six grand-children.
