Edward F. Birkhead
BIRKHEAD - Died, Friday, March 4, 1887, of dropsy at his residence
in Moore's Prairie
Edward F. BIRKHEAD, aged about 45 years. He was a son of Richard BIRKHEAD,
who came from Virginia and settled in lower Moore's Prairie. Edward F. was
born, grew up and married there, his first wife being a daughter of Runyan
IRVIN. Her two sons are living - one at "Uncle Dick's," and the other at
Ewing. He married Florida ROTRAMEL August 15, 1868, the issue of this marriage
being one son and three daughters. He was collector of his township in 1876.
His illness was of twelve month's duration; but with the loss of appetite
about a week ago he sank rapidly. The remains were buried on Saturday at the
old Sugar Camp burying ground. He entered the army October 21, 1864, under
Capt. Harlan PAGE, Co., K, of the 57th Ill. Regiment, under Col. F. J.
Hurlbut, and was pensioned about a year ago for injuries.
