GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH
Per Illinois Vital Records Act and Vital. Records Code (Section 410
ILCS 535/23-25 of the
Vital Records Act and Title 77 Illinois Administrative Code, Illinois
Vital Records Code,
Chapter 1, subchapter e, Part 500.20, Part 500.70)
BIRTH, DEATH, AND MARRIAGE INDEXES in the custody of the county clerk
prior
to January 1, 1916,
are the only indexes that may be viewed by the public. It is unlawful
for any custodian of vital records to permit
inspection of, or to disclose information contained in, vital records,
or to copy or permit to be copied, all or part
of any such record except as authorized by this Act or regulations
adopted pursuant thereto. Any custodian who
willfully and knowingly violates the provisions of Section 24 or 25
of the Act is guilty of a Class 4 felony.
No copies of indexes can be made.
Indexes of some birth and death records are available for inspection
in the Illinois State Archives reference area,
Illinois Regional Archives Depositories, and other libraries. Those
must first ic approved by the Illinois State Registrar
and the Director of the Illinois State Archives. These indexes only
have births of 100 years old or older, deaths 50 years
old or older, and marriage records 75 years old or older.
If you know the date(s), the following can be issued for genealogy and
must
be stamped For genealogical purposes only":
1. Birth records - on file longer than 75 years
2. Death records - on file longer than 20 years
3. Marriage records - no restrictions
If these records are since January 1, 1916, you will be asked to sign
a form.

WILLS AND DIVORCE RECORDS are handled in Circuit Clerk's office
We have Census Record forms which can be mailed to Pittsburg, Kansas
to obtain Census information.

Wills, Probate, and divorces as well as all court records can be obtained
from the circuit clerk.

They will process these request as quickly as possible.
When records have been located, they will send you information as to
the cost of copy charges.
