Hi: I'm researching the descendants of William Lewis DAVENPORT,(1831-1907) my great gr gr uncle, one of his granddaughters, Ms. Ercell DAVENPORT was born in about 1908 and married Mr. BRAGDON. Ercell's parents were Thomas Houston DAVENPORT,(1864-1943) and Willie Etta HENSON,(1869-1955). I believe the BRAGDON family still lives in the area, and I was told that the family operated a ferry across the Ohio River in or near Hardin County, Illinois. I believe that the BRAGDON family had four daughters and one son who would all be grown with children and maybe grandchildren by now. If anyone is familiar with the BRAGDON family, I would like to hear from you so I can complete this section of the DAVENPORT family tree. I live on the east coast, so I can not easily obtain this information from the Illinois/Kentucky area. Hope to hear about the BRAGDON family. Thank you, Steve Siegrist.

HELP--I have the following situation that I have not been able to crack. I am trying to "prove" that my grandfather (born Bert Craig?) is now Bert Craig Dennis. My grandfather was born january 10, 1911 or 1912 (1911 is what is on his death certificate). His death certificate lists his name as Bert Dennis. I was told by my mother that he was born Bert Craig, his father being Benjamin Harrison Craig and his mother being Rosa Dellie (Della) Mae Morris, that they divorced in 1913, and that Della either married a man by the name of Dennis and he adopted Bert and changed his name; or that Bert just took the name. He became Bert Craig Dennis--although most of the time I only find Bert Dennis. I have no birth certificate of a Bert Craig, Bert Craig Dennis, etc--have been unable to find one. Bert was born in Hardin Co., ILL, he died April 21, 1947 at Mt Vernon, Marion Co., IL and is buried at Mt Vernon Oakwood Cemetary (as is his mother Rosa Dellie (Della) Mae (Morris)(Craig)(Dennis)Ferrall. Some Craig family members recall the story of Bert--but some seem to recall his original name was Noah Craig. I can find no record of Noah Craig either. I can't locate this unknown DENNIS person, nor any record of adoption. Everyone I speak with "just knows" he became Bert Dennis, and admit he is in the Craig family because most know the story--but no records. I have Bert Dennis' marriage certificate, his death certificate and his military record. Can anyone help? Thanks

I am searching for the parents of Elizabeth H. Wright that married John Ledbetter (b1806), in 1828 in Gallatin Co, Illinois. I am also looking for the father of John Ledbetter, who is James Ledbetter. According to the book, "Ledbetters from Virginia" the father of John is John C. This is incorrect. I found a court testimony that states that John's father is James. I have not identified exactly who the James Ledbetter is. James's wife could have been Sarah Ledbetter that shows up in the 1820 Gallatin Co, Ill census. An Asa, Henry, and James show up in the 1818 Census, but James does not show up in the 1820. Suggestions!!!!
