Frank A. Lacy was found dead on the railroad tracks in Hannibal, Mo., 15 Jul 1866.

Jerry Moss and wife were murdered by Mr. Loyd at Ralls Co., Mo., last week.

 

6 Oct 1866:

Alonzo George, of Centralia, died in railroad accident near Coloma Station 3 Oct 1866. (See also 13 Oct 1866, issue.)

William Price died five miles east of Jonesboro last Sunday evening (31 Sep 1866).

R.S. Butler died of congestive chills 2 Oct 1866.

 

13 Oct 1866:

Mrs. Harriet Sublett, aged 55 years, of Anna, died 8 Oct 1866.

Carroll Stunson was killed at Harrisburg, Saline County, by James W. Williford Friday (5 Oct 1866).

 

20 Oct 1866:

Henry Cruse, aged about 70 years, died 6 Oct 1866.

Perry Houser, aged about 45 years, died 5 Oct 1866.

Michael Buford, aged 35 years, died 10 Oct 1866.

 

3 Nov 1866:

Mr. "Jim Crow" Jones, of Preston Precinct, died 30 Oct 1866.

Arthur Williams, wife, and two children were murdered with an ax at Cedar Bluff, Ala., on their way to

Texas last Monday (22 ? Oct 1866)

 

17 Nov 1866:

Clay McKiny, aged 21 years, died in the Mississippi Bottoms 4 Nov 1866.
Isaac Davis, aged 22 years, died in the Mississippi Bottoms 11 Nov 1866.

Carroll Sivia, aged 18 years, died 13 Nov 1866.

Kisrah Toler, consort of the late Jesse Toler, aged 65 years, died 14 Nov 1866.

 

1 Dec 1866:

Cornelia Davie, wife of Daniel Davie, died at Anna 29 Nov 1866.

 

29 Dec 1866:

Eight African Americans were shot and killed just above Cache Island in Pulaski County a few nights ago.

 

5 Jan 1867:

Samuel T. Hunsaker died at Anna Thursday morning (3 Jan 1867). (See also 12 Jan 1867, issue.)

Henry Stroman, aged 34 years, died near Makanda 25 Dec 1866.

 

19 Jan 1867:

Helsey Newbold, aged about 17 years, died 10 miles east of Anna 15 Jan 1867.

Elizabeth Neff, wife of Peter Neff, aged 35 years, died at St. Louis 10 Jan 1867.

Augusta Sarah Porter, daughter of Thomas Porter, of Cairo, Alexander County, was burned to death 19 Jan 1867.

 Martha Stokes, aged about 20 years, committed suicide by swallowing arsenic Tuesday evening (21 Jan

1867) because her fiance, Anslem Walker, married another, Miss Stephenson. (See also 2 Feb 1867, issue.) Note: Absalom Wallace married on 22 Jan 1867, in Union County Eliza Stephenson.

 

16 Feb 1867:

William H. Gallagher, aged 25 years, died of consumption 8 Feb 1867.

William Brooks, aged about 21 years, died near Anna 9 Feb 1867.

Elizabeth Powell, wife of William Powell, aged about 35 years, died of pneumonia 11 Feb 1867.

 

2 Mar 1867:

Samuel Moore was murdered in Williamson County two years ago by John Washam.

Henry Kent was killed in a mill explosion Wednesday morning (27 Feb 1867).

 

9 Mar 1867:

Fannie Augusta Childs, infant of F.A. and Celeste E. Childs, aged 4 months, 6 days, died in Jonesboro 1 Mar 1867.

Robert Alvin Keller, infant of James M. Keller, aged 8 months, died of pneumonia in Anna last Tuesday (5 Mar 1867).

William A. Hacker, of Cairo, Alexander County, died 9 Mar 1867. He was born 20 May 1826. (See also

James Beehymer, of Preston Precinct, died.

Allen W. Kimmel, of Preston Precinct, died.

John Bittle, of Hutchins Creek, died.

Moses Fisher, aged about 8 years, died at Dongola 28 Mar 1867.

Rachel Davis, wife of Colombus Davis, daughter of Martin Brown, aged 24 years, died 7 Apr 1867, six

miles south of Anna.

Chambers Porterfield, of Pulaski, Pulaski County, aged 32 years, died of pneumonia 5 Apr 1867.

 

20 Apr 1867:

Abel Wiley, father of Col. B.L. Wiley, aged 80 years, died of pleurisy at Makanda 15 Apr 1867.

Elizabeth (Hileman) Hartman, wife of Charles Hartman, aged 24 years, died of typhoid pneumonia two

miles east of Anna, Wednesday (17 Apr 1867).

James Newton, of Anna, aged 66 years, died Wednesday morning (17 Apr 1867).

 

27 Apr 1867:

Cora Hayse, infant daughter of I.W. Hayse, of Anna, died Monday (22 Apr 1867).

Dr. David S. Ravens, of Anna, aged 45 years, died 21 Apr 1867. He was born in Georgia.

 

4 May 1867:

George Osbrooks, died four miles southeast of Anna of consumption 1 May 1867.

 

18 May 1867:

Robert Woods, aged 22 years, died in Anna of epilepsy (13 May 1867)

 

25 May 1867:

Lucy Carpenter, daughter of J.A. and Margaret Carpenter, of Cobden, aged 11 months, died of

erysipelas 16 May 1867.

An African American was killed near Grand Chain, Pulaski County, last week.


1 Jun 1867:

Elvira (Albright) Watkins, wife of Thomas J. Watkins, aged 32 years, died at Jonesboro 26 May 1867.

 

8 Jun 1867:

Noah Maples, aged 40 years, died of consumption 3 Jun 1867.

 

15 Jun 1867:

Stephen Phelps was killed by Vardemon Randal at Clear Creek, Alexander County, last Thursday a

week (6 Jun 1867) (See also 20 Jul 1867, issue.)

 

20 Jul 1867:

George Foster, African American, was killed by his son-in-law, Mr. Taylor.

Theodore Manion was killed by Van R. Hall

Frank Russell was killed at Mound City, Pulaski County, by "a mob of Negroes."

William Hargrave was killed at Mound City, Pulaski County by "a mob of Negroes."

An African American was lynched by friends of Russell and Hargrave at Mound City, Pulaski County.

Mr. Hayward was killed in a locomotive explosion at Cairo, Alexander County, Monday (22 Jul 1867).

John Wilson was killed in a locomotive explosion at Cairo, Alexander County, Monday (22 Jul 1867).

 

3 Aug 1867:

Elijah W. Hunsaker, aged 38 years, died 27 Jul 1867.

John W. Gayle, formerly of Cape Girardeau, Mo., aged 53 years, died at Blayden Springs, Ala., 24 Jul 1867.

 

10 Aug 1867:

Mr. Willard was killed in railroad accident at Irvington Station 3 Aug 1867.

 

17 Aug 1867:

Mr. Breneke committed suicide by drowning at Cape Girardeau, Mo., Sunday (11 Aug 1867).

Mr. Breneke, father of the above Breneke, committed suicide by hanging at Cape Girardeau, Mo. (12 Aug 1867).

 

24 Aug 1867:

Charley Naill, adopted son of J.E. Naill, died of ague chill Wednesday (14 Aug 1867).

 

31 Aug 1867:

Son of S.G. Thomas, aged 8 years, was killed by a falling tree last Sunday (25 Aug 1867).

7 Sep 1867:

William Thrifts, son of H. and M.C. Thrifts, aged 2 years, 3 months, 29 days, died at Jonesboro 2  Sep 1867.

Laura G. Dimond, daughter of the Rev. D. and Augusta Dimond, aged 1 year, died Friday (6 Sep 1867).

Kate I. (Webb) Everett, wife of Henry C. Everett, of Alleytown, Colorado Co., Texas, died 9 Sep 1867.

Joseph Winelan, aged 70 years, died last Wednesday (18 Sep 1867).

Jack Rodigan, of Cairo, Alexander County, died (27 Sep 1867).

Benjamin Maneese, aged about 45 years, died near Anna 1 Oct 1867.

 

12 Oct 1867:

Perry D. Scarsdale, son of Dr. Frank and Louisa Scarsdale, aged 1 year, 8 months, 18 days, died of

summer complaint nine miles east of Anna 3 Oct 1867.

George Keith was run over by a train at Cobden last Saturday (5 Oct 1867).

Joshua Roberts died 15 Oct 1867. He was born 28 May 1815, in Pennsylvania.

John Hacker, infant son of Dr. H.C. Hacker, died 10 Oct 1867.

Miss Missouri Smith, aged 25 years, died 10 Oct 1867.

Miss Melinda Grammer, aged 22 years, died 11 Oct 1867.
