SCRIBNER
Seek information on the Scribner family which moved through

census shows Eliza Wilkerson, 21, and Mary A. McIntire, 20, in

Miranda, 15, James, 17, and Martha, 6. (Eliza) Jane Scribner
married Marvel Wilkerson in Gallatin County in Nov 1847 (have
copy of marriage record). The IGI says that Mary Ann Scribner
married Thomas McIntire there 12 Oct 1847, but I could not find
a copy of this marriage record. Can anyone verify if the
marriage took place in Gallatin Co.? Also, a John Scribner
married widow Elizabeth Martin 16 Aug 1849 in Gallatin Co. John,

was

Her mother1s last name was LOUIS her father1s name of course was

Mary was probably married in 1871 to John MALCOM because her

Mary had two sons by John MALCOM; Robert Virgil Malcolm
1-3-1874/4-5-
1937, and J.C. Malcolm 3-6-1875.
John Malcolm(might have served in the Civil War) must have died

between 1875 and 1881 because the next date I have is the birth
of Mary1s
fourth child, Charles H. Walters, born 1882.
Hilliard GAINES b. 5-2-1869, Carmi, IL, was the son of John

From my grandma Gaines ( Etna Malcom - Gaines) bible:
Mr. White and Ms Louis (?b. 18201s ?) married and had,
Mary A. White ( Malcom, Walters, Hester) - she married John
Malcom and
had
Etna Malcom on 1-19-1872, Trumbull, IL (a town in White County
that is
no longer in existance), (3 brothers, one sister)
Etna m. Hilliard Gaines in Carmi,IL on 3-2-1892, and had;
Tennessee Gaines 1858,
Nathaniel Gaines 1861,
Hilliard Gaines 1869,
Lucy Gaines Velmont 1871,
Bud Gaines1873,
Dave Gaines 1874,
Tabitha Gaines (Butner) 1875.
Hilliard Gaines was the son of Tabitha Holderby and John Gaines,
John Gaines may have been in the Civil War, my uncle Jake Smith
told me
that 1them Gaines1 are damned yankees, and John and Tabitha
didn1t have
any children between; Tennessee Gaines 1858, Nathaniel
Gaines1861, and
Hilliard in 5-2-1869,
about 8 years without any children and no birth control, I think
John was
probably at war.
Hilliard and Etna had my father , Paul Gaines in 1898
Paul m. Dollie Smith, my mother ( the confederate side) and had
me in CA
in 1946.
Dollie and Paul Gaines recieved money from the Holderby estate
until the
19501s when they signed some papers that Etna Malcom Gaines told
them to
because they would get a cash settlement and they never
recieved another
thing.
