QRYTEXT: I am seeking information on a Shawnee
Indian Maiden
named ASOUNDECHRIS
FLAT HEAD. She is the mother of the Lewis and Clark
guide/interpreter/hunter George Drouillard b. 1773.
I would like to know if this maiden was married there in Cape
Girardeau,
MO after 1769 or so when Louis Lorimier came there with a large
group of
Shawnee from the Great Miami, [Maumee], Ohio.
She was not married to the father of George Drouillard, [Pierre
Drouillard].
I would like any information that you could possibly give me on
this
maiden.
Sincerely, Nancy Drouillard 2991 Gladwin Ct. Wayne, Michigan

QRYTEXT: My
ggggrandparents Noble had son Barry?, and daughters, Catherine
and
Jane (I believe). Catherine married ? More (Moore?) who was
killed in
the Civil War by Quantrell's Raiders. Catherine died in
childbirth with
my g grandmother, Mary Louisa More Parrott in January, 1861.
Mary was
raised first by her grandparents Noble (I don't have their first
names).
They died about 1873, and she went to live with her Uncle who
had Sarah
and John, who was deaf. She also lived with her Aunt Jane.
There was
also a Henry H. Noble, who was either her cousin or her uncle
and was
only a few years older than she, and they were raised together.
They
lived in New Madrid and Donagan? Any info on this branch of
Nobles would
be appreciated - also anything on this branch of More's
(Moore's). Mary
Louisa married Paul Parrott and they moved to Idalia, Stoddard
Co and
had my grandmother, Josephine Parrott who married Charles Henry
Aslin.
Thank you.

SURNAMES: SNELL,
QRYTEXT: I am working on my
family
genealogy and I have traced my great-grandparents
to Cape Girardeau Co. in the 1900 census. Their names were
Columbus and
Mary Snell. I cannot locate them anywhere after 1900. I was
wondering
if
they could have possibly died between 1900 and 1910--and maybe
in Cape
Girardeau Co. I have found one of the daughters, Edith, in
Bollinger
Co.,
living with a Finney family as an orphan in the 1910 census.
What would be the best way to research their death in either or
both of
these counties? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I saw your web page on Cape Girardeau County. I have a question

couldn't answer through the links there or at the genweb page.
Where is
or was the Shawnee Township of Cape Girardeau County located?
Do you
know of a link to a map? Map links would improve an already
great web
page.

SURNAMES: Gallatin County, IL Query for Wilson HARMON
QRYTEXT: Wilson Harmon, my great great grandfather lived in
Gallatin
County, Equality Township according to the 1870 U. S. census.
With him
were his wife Elizabeth ENDICOTT Harmon and children....Joseph,
James L.,
Andrew, Amy, Martha, and Flora Belle.
Wilson Harmon was born ca. 1828 in Gibson County, IN (?) The
earliest
account we have of him is the 1850 U. S. Census in Gibson
County, IN
living with John Cantrell and family. The possible parents of
Wilson
Harmon may be George Harmon (b: ca, 1791 in SC) and Minerva
Gentry.
Wilson was a sharecropper in Gallatin County, IL at the time of
the 1870
census. We find several vital events of him and his family
between IL and
IN suggesting that they traveled back and forth across the
Wabash River
while he was a sharecropper. We have no evidence of Wilson
owning land.
Any information to lead us to learn more about Wilson Harmon and
his
family in Gallatin County IL is greatly appreciated.

SURNAMES: Stevens/Stephens Jones/Johns Morrow
QRYTEXT: I
am trying to locate my Grandfathers family. He was baptized at
St.
Joseph in Equality on October 28, 1888. His Father on the Church
register is listed as Joanes Stephons and Mother as Helena
Johns. My
Grandfather is listed as Henricus I Stephons (He went by Harry
Stevens).
He talked of his father as John Stevens/Stephens and mother as
Helen
Jones. She had been married before her marriage to John
Stevens/Stephens
so her name on the marriage certificate shows Jones/Morrow.
Family stories has it that Helen went home to Shawneetown to her
mothers
home to give birth to my Grandfather (the Jolly Ranch). Their
names were
Catherine Durbin Jones married to William Jolly.
I am trying to find out if anyone can verify these families. I
would
like to know if they lived in Shawneetown or Equality or if
there is any
information on any siblings of John Stevens/Stephens, Helen
Jones/Johns
Morrow or Harry Stevens (my Grandfather).
Thank you,
