- OSLEY, POWERS, REMICK posted by Bruce Remick on Friday, May 16, 1997
- I am looking for information on the REMICK OSLEY
home in Trenton, Clinton County, IL. I understand this is an
historic residence in the town, and I suspect it may be
associated with a member of my REMICK line.
A
reference to this home is reportedly contained in the Clinton
County Historical Society Quarterly, April 1, 1989 (v 12, n
2)
In my REMICK records, George Washington REMICK
(1818-1904) and wife, Eleanor (POWERS) moved to Trenton in
1858-59, possibly from LA. He was born in NH. They had 9
children. George had a business in Trenton-- Remick & Linn--
and a sawmill on Sugar Creek. He was the first president(?) of
Trenton, according to records held by a direct ancestor. Was the
REMICK OSLEY home the family residence of George and Eleanor?
Perhaps someone with access to the Historical Society Journals
can help?
Thank you.>BR> Bruce Remick
- BALDRIDGE, DICKEY posted by David Baldridge on Saturday, May 24,
1997
- I am searching for the gravesite of my
great(3)-grandfather, Francis Marion BALDRIDGE, who died in
Clinton County, IL, on 11 October 1847. He was born on 3 August
1785 in Orange County, North Carolina, to Daniel BALDRIDGE and
wife of unknown name. He married Frances DICKEY on 21 November
1811 in Rutherford County, Tennessee. In the 1840s, the family
moved from middle Tennessee to Clinton County, Illinois, where
Francis' older brother, Robert BALDRIDGE, already lived.
Robert's wife was Elizabeth DICKEY, sister of Frances (DICKEY)
BALDRIDGE. Robert and Elizabeth (DICKEY) BALDRIDGE are thought
to be buried in a small unchartered family cemetery near Pierron
in southwestern Bond County, IL. Hence, Francis Marion BALDRIDGE
might well be buried somewhere in northwestern Clinton County or
just over the line in adjacent Bond County. The widow, Frances
(DICKEY) BALDRIDGE, later moved to Benton County, Arkansas,
where she had received bounty land for Francis' military service
in the War of 1812. She died there on 29 October 1874 and is
buried in Wardlaw Cemetery near Pea Ridge, Arkansas.

- HEABERLIN, PETREA, PETRIE, SOPER posted by Kathryn Kelly on Friday, May 30, 1997
- I am looking for information about a cemetery
named the PETREA or PETRIE Burial Grounds. Information I have
indicates that it is 5 miles west of the city of Centralia
which, I believe, would put it in Clinton County, but possibly
Marion County. I also believe it is a family burial ground for
members of the Thomas and Saloma (SOPER) PETREA family that
lived in Brookside Township, Clinton County, Illinois in the
late 1800s and early 1900s. I would like to know of any people
named HEABERLIN that are buried there. In particular, I am
looking for Samuel Berry HEABERLIN (b.1795,d.1865), Sally
HEABERLIN (b.1795,d.1865), Jane (SOPER) HEABERLIN
(b.1837,d.1873), Alsadie HEABERLIN (b.?,d.?) and Louis
HEABERLIN(b.1872,d.?). I appreciate any information you can give
me. .
