- FRITZ
posted by Lynn Williams on Tuesday,
February 18, 1997
- I've been researching my FRITZ
family. In 1850 they were in St. Clair County, Il. However, in
1860 they were in Clinton Co., but the husband was not with
them. Here is what I have. In 1850, St. Clair co., Ill. John
Fritz, Eavi (wife) and children, Peter,Henry, George, Christina,
Catharine, Elizabeth [St. Clair, 302, 5th Dist.] In 1860,
Carlysle post office, Clinton Co., Ill., [family #1597, dwelling
# 1769] Eva is there with children: Henry, Catharine, George,
Elizabeth, John, William, Peter. Where is John (Johannes)? There
is a John FRITZ (correct general age) in prison in St. Clair Co.
in the 1860 census. By 1870 they were in Arkansas and then on
into Texas. Henry is my line. I know they came into New Orleans
2 Jan 1841 on the ship Rebecca and my Henry was born 17 Jan 1841
in St. Louis. After that all the rest of the children were born
in St. Clair. I've been able to trace marriages and families of
all the children except Peter, Christina, and Catharine (there
are many marriages in Illinois with these names). Is there any
way you can help me find these missing children? And also, what
happened to John in 1860? ... he is with the family in Arkansas
and Texas. Thanks for any help you can give me.

- CASEY, HINSHAW, JOHNSON posted by Julia Casey on Friday, March 28, 1997
- I am currently researching my husband's family
and have been able to trace them back to Clinton County,
Illinois. Daniel CASEY appears on the 1840 & 1850 Census
living in Clinton County, possibly in Eastfork Township.
According to family papers, Daniel was married 3 times. Sarah
JOHNSON was his second wife. He had 16 children, only 2 survived
into adulthood. The children's names I have found so far are
Elisha, Henry, Lurany, Osborn J., James, Mary Jane, Mathias
& Matthew. Matthew born April 29, 1852 in Clinton Co.
married Amanda HINSHAW June 13, 1872 and they remained in
Clinton Co. until they moved to Idaho in 1886/1887. I am hoping
to locate someone with information on the CASEY's who may have
stayed in Illinois and also find information on Daniel's
birthplace. Census records indicate South Carolina, Alabama and
Georgia as his place of birth.

- LAGER Family, Breese IL: I am looking for the
Lager from Breese Illinois who, I believe, owned a store there
about the 1890's. They are related to Leo Lager and brother
Bernhardt Lager who owned a clothing store at 4th & Convent
St Louis and another on South Broadway in St Louis from about
1860 until after the turn of the century. I have details on the
Saint Louis Lagers including a photo of my Grandmother Katy
Lager with her cousins in Breese taken in front of a row of
lilac bushes in the last century, which I will gladly share with
the Breese/Clinton County Lagers. Object: Trying to find the
home town in Hanover and broaden the tree.</B>
