Donald R. Winter, 85, of Palestine, IL., died Saturday, April 7, 2007 in rural Sullivan County, IN as a result of an auto accident. He was born December 12, 1921 in Palestine, IL, the son of Roy Winter and Margaret Crozier Winter.

He was an electrical supervisor at CIPS for 37 years retiring in 1983. Don served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Palestine Library Board, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, Palestine Presbyterian Church, and the Crawford County American Radio Club. He served on the Executive Council of the Boy Scouts of America for over 35 years.

He married Inez Hobson July 9, 1943 and she died on April 13th as a result of the same auto accident. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ruth Wilson. He is survived by his sister, Jean French, Ocala, FL; 1 niece and 2 nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Rev. Tom Akers is in charge of services. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17th.
