Fred A. Tincher, 82 Oblong, died Saturday March 29, 2003 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born August 18, 1920 in Longview, Texas and was the son of Benjamin Franklin Tincher and Annie Mae (Lee) Tincher. On August 13, 1983, he married Charlotte Leggitt in Memphis, TN. Fred was a Farm Advisor in Whiteside County, Illinois with the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service for 35 years, retiring in 1980. After retirement, Fred owned an irrigation management business and later a barbecue catering business in Virginia. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University, Life member of the Blandensville, IL. Masonic Lodge and just received his 50 year pin, a member of the Shrine and Scottish Rite Consistory of Huntsville, Alabama. Fred was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Oblong Community Ruritan Club and Oblong First Christian Church. During WWII, Fred served in the United States Army as an Ordinance Officer, in both Italy and North Africa.

Fred is survived by his wife Charlotte; two daughters and sons-in-laws Lajuan & Bobby Dixon and Linda & Ted Nadolski; four grandchildren Carmen Maynard, Bobby Dixon, Paul Nadolski and Lori Nadolski; four great grandchildren Brandon Fugate, Matthew Fugate, Kimberly Dixon and Bryan Dixon; one brother and sister-in-law Troy & Jo Tincher.

Preceding Fred in death are his parents and one sister Zelda Tincher.

Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL. Military Rites conducted by Olbong American Legion Post #219.
