Edward Steel Sr., died at his home a few miles north of Robinson at 5:15 o'clock Saturday evening, April 15, 1899, after a week's illness of pneumonia.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Steel, and descended from a distinguished Pennsylvania family. He was born in Philadelphia in 1834. His parents came west in an early day and located at Terre Haute, afterwards moving to this county. Mr. Steel was married to Mahala Knight and eight children were born to them; four boys and four girls, seven of whom survive, viz: Lizzie, Jane, Mary, John, Homer, Edward and Bruce. Mrs. Steel died five years ago.

Mr. Steel was a highly respected citizen and it is doubtful that he had an enemy in the world. He will be greatly missed in the community, as well as in the home circle, where his death is an irreparable loss to his loved ones.

The funeral occurred Monday, conducted by elder I. M. Hoel, after which interment occurred in the Newlin cemetery, by the side of the wife of his youth.
