Rosemary Skaggs Ransford, 90, of Robinson, IL, died at 6:35 a.m., Friday, April 6, 2007 at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center in Robinson. She was born July 22, 1916 in Crawford County, the daughter of Emory and Dessie (Higgins) Barrick.

She owned and operated Lawrence Grocery in Robinson; was a member of the Palestine First United Methodist Church; was a member of the Royal Neighbors for over 50 years; the Women of the Moose; and the Robinson American Legion Auxillary Post #69.

Rosemary married Lawrence Skaggs on January 19, 1935 and he preceded her in death in December of 1971. She then married Lester "Pete" Ransford in 1978 and he preceded her in death in 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her sister Pansy Ransford; and her brother, Ralph Eugene Barrick.

Survivors include 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Clark Maxwell, Claremont, CA, Charlotte Zuziak, Shreveport, LA, Mary Lou and Larry Surrells, Palestine, Beverly Kay and Gerald Cox, Robinson; 12 grandchildren, Linda Staley, Vicki Hightower, Lisa Soles, Steve Maxwell, Doug Maxwell, Shelley Maxwell, Brenda Osborn, Angelia Williams, Diana Miller, Leona Free, Brad Surrells and Mike Gullett; 18 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her family and her adopted family, "The Good Old Country Boys" were her life. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's ball games and especially enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs. She also loved to dance and to bowl.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, April 10th at Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with Rev. Paul Gray in charge of services. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 -- 8:00 p.m. on Monday, and until service time on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
