Sheila Michelle Rangel, 63 of Robinson, IL died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 09, 2004 at Long Term Care Unit of Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. She was born November 14, 1940 in Chicago, the daughter of John Rangel and Elizabeth Mead Rangel.

Sheila was a Registered Nurse receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree from Saint-Mary of The Woods College in Terre Haute, a Masters Degree in Education from Indiana State University, an Associate Degree in Nursing from Indiana Central University in Indianapolis in 1974, her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Indiana State University in 1990, and a Master's Degree in Nursing from Indiana State University in 1992. She was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Honorary Nursing Society and the Indiana State Nurses Association.

After completing her education, Sheila spent 4 years at Saint-Mary-of The Woods Providence Infirmary; 2 years at Good Samaritan Hospital on the Med-Surg Unit in Vincennes, IN; 12 years at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Med-Surg, Transitional Care, Oncology, and Neurological Units; and 1-1/2 years at Putnamville Correctional Facility in Putnamville, IN in the Health Care Unit.

Sheila taught for 7-1/2 years in elementary school; 4 years at Indiana State University School of Nursing in both the AD and the BSN program; and was full time Staff Nurse at the Robinson Correctional Facility in Robinson until the present time.

Sheila is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Rangel of Chicago; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Bettijean Rangel, Chicago; her niece and her husband, Linda Gambino-Giesel and David Giesel, her niece Laura Rangel, Elgin; and great niece and nephew, Gabrielle and Nicolas, all of Bartlett, IL; a very special friend that she taught and worked with for several years, Tammy Fralicker, Palestine; and Nicholas Halterman, another special friend that she considered to be her grandson.

She was preceded in death by her father and her sister, Andrea Gambino.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 12th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Rev. John Brand is in charge of services. Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to service time at 7:00 on Friday (e.s.t.). Burial will be in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery/Mt. Carmel, in Hillside Illinois at a later date. Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
