Thomas Arthur Parkes, 82 of Robinson, IL, died at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2005 at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center in Robinson. He was born November 10, 1922 in Bayonne, NJ, the son of Thomas Patrick Parkes and Mary Connelly Parkes.

He retired as a clerk in the Joliet State Prison in Joliet, IL in 1987 after 20 years of service; served in the U. S. Navy during WWII; was a member of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, the Robinson American Legion Post #69; and was a member of the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188.

He married Jean O'Dell on November 12, 1955 and she survives. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Arthur Jr. and Jenny Parkes, Indianapolis, IN; 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Teresa and John Gallo, Grafton, WI, Anna and Tim Wilson, Canton, GA, Mary Ann Wyatt, Atlanta, GA; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Emily Jewell Wyatt; and 4 sisters.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2005 at the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine with Rev. Bill Overman officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the AmVets Post #33, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
