Marilyn E. Newlin, 61 of rural Flat Rock, IL, died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN following surgery. She was born October 23, 1945 in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Charles Simmers and Wilda Knapp Simmers.

She was employed at Robinson Transformer for 12 years, retiring in 1992.

She married James L. Newlin January 4, 1964 and he survives. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and DeEtta Newlin, Hutsonville; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Shelly and Brent Powell, Palestine, Rita and Danny Nethery, Robinson; 5 grandchildren, Dustin Nethery and his fiancée, Tomi Skaggs, Robinson, Brent W. Powell, Palestine, Tanner Nethery, Robinson, Johnny Newlin, Hutsonville, and Mackenzie Powell, Palestine; her great grandson, Walker Nethery, Robinson; and her mother, Wilda Eveland, Robinson; 3 brothers and her sister-in-law, Rick Simmers, Robinson, Steve Simmers, Robinson, and Danny and Tina Eveland; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Marsha Parker, Robinson, Sherry and Jerry Dunlap, Flat Rock; her half sister, Melba Altmeyer, Plainfield, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Simmers; 2 brothers, Ted Simmers and Wendell Simmers; and her sister, Shirley K. Simmers.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 26th at 10:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Brother Rick Catt is in charge of services. Burial is in the Hardinville Cemetery, rural Robinson. Visitation is at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 25th. Memorials may be made to the National Diabetes Foundation.
