Alice A. Newlin, 94, Duncan, Oklahoma and formerly of Oblong, Illinois passed away at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at The Sterling House in Duncan, Oklahoma. Born January 3, 1913, in Carlinville, Illinois she was the daughter of John C. Downey and Lucy Adaline (Garwood) Downey.
She was a homemaker. Alice was a member of the Bellair Church of Christ. Her hobbies included quilting; spending time with her grandchildren; working at the Clothing Workshop in Robinson and helping with Bellair activities.
On September 10, 1937, she married Harold Ralph Newlin, who preceded her in death on August 5, 1980. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Daniel Downey & Chilton Downey; a daughter-in-law and a grandson.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Rex & Beverly Newlin; one daughter and son-in-law, Janice & Larry Jennings; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; two brothers and sister-in-law, Douglas Downey and Price & Marjorie Downey; several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL.
