Ruby G. Newell, 70, of rural Palestine, IL, died at 10:08 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2004 at Crawford Memorial Hospital. She was born June 15, 1934 in Palestine, IL, the daughter of James Curtis Fitzpatrick and Nellie May Phillips Fitzpatrick.
She was a cashier at the Robinson IGA from June 13, 1977. She was a member of the Oak Grove Church, rural Palestine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Russell Fitzpatrick.
She is survived by her 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Todd and Debbie Newell, Marshall, and Charles "Butch" Newell, Palestine; her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Ann and Larry Stewart, Palestine; 7 grandchildren, Barbie Fifer, Randy, Robin, Hayley, and Curtis Newell, Kaycee Stewart, and Ashlie Sullivan; 2 great grandchildren, Damian Newell and Mackenzie Fifer; friend and former daughter-in-law, Sally Newell, Palestine.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine with Brother George Meese officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Saturday preceding the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
