Clara Kroeger Mette, 89, of Robinson, IL, died at 3:17 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. She was born April 13, 1917 in Effingham County, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Cecelia Probst Kroeger.

She was a homemaker, a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, and the Altar Society. She married Bernard H. Mette February 22, 1941 and they celebrated 60 years of marriage prior to his death on April 29, 2001. She had been in outstanding health until the last several months. Most nice days Clara could be found working in her flower beds or gardening.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bernie Don Mette; her daughter, Loretta Inboden; a grandson, John Anthrop; and 2 brothers, Clement and Albert Kroeger.

She is survived by 2 sons, Larry Mette, Cumming, GA and David Mette, rural Robinson; 6 daughters and sons-in-law, Joann Daugherty, Charleston, Mary Lou and Robert Anthrop, Brazil, IN, Judy and Frank Watson, Mooresville, IN, Eileen and Dean Smithenry, Newton, Jane Howard, rural West York, Carol and Jack Watts, Robinson; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Anna Mae Nosbisch, Teutopolis, Delores Koeberlein, Altamont, and Gertrude Allredge, Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Robinson with Rev. Bill Overmann officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007 with prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson and until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
