Thelma Lucille Mendenhall, 79, of rural Robinson, IL, died at 12:31 p.m. Wednesday, May 04, 2005, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. She was born February 13, 1926, the daughter of Orval Clarence Emmons and Clara Edith Rich Emmons in Honey Creek Township and was raised at Port Jackson, IL.

She worked at Allen's Sanitarium, was a housekeeper for Bill and Elizabeth Flynn, and worked with her husband at the Town 'N Country True Value Hardware store for several years and then co-owned it with her husband, Bennie, from 1977 until it burned in January of 1980. She was a member of the Plymouth Christian Church and the Crawford County Republican Women where she served as Treasurer from 1990 to 2004.

She married Benjamin Edmond "Bennie" Mendenhall, Jr. on June 16, 1950 and he preceded her in death on April 27, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Roger Duane Mendenhall in 1952; her sister, B. Marie Smith, March of 2005; her brother, Orval Emmons, Jr. in January of 1996; an infant brother; and an infant sister, Wanda Maxine Emmons.

She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Shirley and Ted Berry, Donna and Roger Dunlap; her son, Kevin Mendenhall, all of Robinson; 6 grandchildren, Jill (Berry) Dunahee, Bridgeport, Beth (Berry) Killion, Vincennes, Jason Berry, Jedidiah Dunlap, Summer Mendenhall, and Autumn Mendenhall, all of Robinson; 6 great grandchildren, Heather (Montgomery) Sellers, Hutsonville, Michael Montgomery, Robinson, Miranda Dunahee, Bridgeport, Crystal and Wade Stoltz, Palestine, and Brooke Langley, Robinson; 2 step great grandchildren, Josh and Amanda Bollinger, Robinson; her great great grandchild, Josh Sellers, Hutsonville. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Alene and Robert Martin, Westville; a sister-in-law, Ruby Bex, Terre Haute, IN; 2 brothers-in-law and their spouses, Earnie and Neva Mendenhall, Oblong, and Smith "Buster" and Wanda Mendenhall, Mt. Sterling; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 10th at 2:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Brother Charles Rains is in charge of services. Burial is in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and until service time on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Lions Club with envelopes at the funeral Home.
