Jewel Mefford, 93, of Mt. Horeb, WI, formerly of Palestine, IL, died Sunday, January 10, 2004 at the Ingelside Nursing Home, Mt. Horeb, WI. She was born August 9, 1910 in Clark County, IL, the daughter of Ernest Buckner and Minnie Roberts Buckner.

She was a homemaker. She was formerly a member of the Oak Grove Congregational Church and the LaMotte Prairie Home Extension; and presently a member of the First United Methodist Church, Palestine.

She married Ralph Mefford July 16, 1934 and he preceded her in death on January 8, 1970. Her parents and 3 sisters, Elizabeth Anderson, Pauline Dix, and Frances Gower also preceded her in death.

She is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothea and Jerry Kermicle, Cross Plains, WI, Deette and Delbert Domes, Snohomish, WA, Kathryn and David Anglemyer, Gilman, WI; 1 son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Debra Mefford, Frisco, TX; 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Norma Thatcher, Hammond, IN.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2004 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine, IL. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 16th from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
