Nellie Katherine McDaniel, 99, of rural Palestine, IL, died at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Crawford Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, Robinson. She was born July 9, 1905 in Flat Rock, IL, the daughter of Alfred Sampson McCorkle and Bertha Pearl Plew McCorkle. She was a housewife. She was a member of the Palestine First Christian Church and Royal Neighbors.
She married Valmore "Holey" McDaniel on February 26, 1926 and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Walter McCorkle, and her great grandson, Cody Wayne Waggoner.
She is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Ola Gwen McDaniel, rural Palestine, Paul and Blanche McDaniel, rural Palestine, Joe and Ruth McDaniel, rural Palestine; daughter and son-in-law, Jennalee and Albert Nohe, Bargersville, IN; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2004 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine with Rev. James Delaney III officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 29th from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Palestine First Christian Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
